The Air BP Spanish Aerobatics Championship was held for the 3rd time in a row at the Catalan Lleida-Alguaire airport from May 30th to June 1st.
The Guinness World Records has officially recognized 987 rolls performed consecutively as the new world record. It was achieved by Kingsley Just, an air traffic controller from Australia who raises money for zinc absorption research to benefit his son Kaelan. Specifically, he needed to perform more than 408 consecutive rolls, so he set a new record successfully.
After three years break the Red Bull Air Race World Championship is back on track. It is the fastest motorsport series on the planet. It started on February 28th in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and it finishes next November in China, after having stopped in six different locations around the world. This season 12 elite pilots compete in the Master Class. Former champion Paul Bonhomme is among them.
The Spanish Aerobatic Championship (powered aircraft) and the Air Race F1 will be held at the Catalan airport of Lleida-Alguaire (Spain) from the 30th of May to the 1st of June. It will be the first time both events are celebrated together as part of the LLeida Air Challenge which includes air shows, static displays and classic aircrafts exhibitions.
World Aerobatic Champion, François Le Vot, obtained the first place in the inaugural Sky Grand Prix of Aerobatics which was celebrated from 21st to 23rd of March in the beaches of Durban –the largest city in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal- . This festival was the main event of Durban Land, Sea & Air Festival, the first event of its kind to happen in that country. The competition pulled a record-breaking crowd of 145.000 people during the two days.
